We're not a lender and we don't make credit decisions. What we do is know who to call, in what order, and what a transaction needs to look like before it gets there.
A broker doesn't always know what a credit team is really worried about. A lender rarely sees what a deal looked like before it got tidied up. An accountant usually knows the client better than anyone and never gets asked. Meanwhile the borrower tells the same story over and over, and the answers don't always match.
We sit in the middle of that.
Deals go out as well as come in. Not every enquiry we receive belongs in private credit, and the ones that don't go out through our broker and adviser network rather than being forced somewhere they don't fit.
That's the part most people don't expect. It's not a funnel with one exit.
If a transaction fits a lender in our group, we operate like any other BDM. If it needs credit from outside that network, we bring it in — and we say so upfront.
We don't pass transactions around the market. Unnecessary exposure costs borrowers money and costs lenders time. We go to the credit team that suits the transaction, in the right order. If one lender can't cover the requirement, we can look at bringing in multiple sources of credit, and where debt falls short, options around equity can be explored.
